Compies

Compies are an alien species resembling humanoid reptiles.

Characteristics[]

Compies are an oviparous[1], cold-blooded[2], alien race that resemble lizards. Compies typically have two-tone pigmentation in the blue-grey spectrum. They have specialized feathers that resemble human hair growing on their scalp. Their "hair" is typically a dark blue-black color, but grays with age.[3] [4][5]Their markings can vary depending on the individual, but are not symmetrical.[6] Compies tails, which are not usually shorter than 2 feet in length, are used for balance. [7] Compies have blue blood.[8]

All Compies have technological implants, including computer headbands[9][10][11] and currently exist as a species inseparable from their technology.[12][13] Compie computers are always located on the forehead.[14]

Culture[]

Compies do not have biological sexes, and their culture does not have a concept of gender. The Compie language uses pronouns as honorifics. The third-person pronouns used for formal, professional contexts and general usage is translated into English as "they / them". A more personal third-person pronoun set, used for close friends and romantic partners, is translated into English as "she / her".[15][16]

Compies experience a wide range of attraction similar to humans. They typically have several partners over their long lifespans. Some are polyamorous, others are not. They have a taboo against romantic relationships with other species.[17]

In Compie society, it's common to discriminate against others based on "intelligence".[18]

The Compies have a treaty with the notauri, which prohibits notauri intrusions into Compie territory.[19]

Diet[]

The compie diet is likely to consist of bugs, eggs, and meat.

Trivia[]

  • Shelby has compared Compies to Mexican Whiptail Lizards. [20] Whiptail Lizards are known as "lesbian lizards" because of their ability to reproduce despite their status as a female-only species. The lizards reproduce via asexual reproductive process known as parthenogenesis. Parthenogenesis is thought to be a serious threat to a species' biodiversity as populations consisting solely of females are said to be in danger of going extinct.
  • Compies typically sleep under heat lamps.[21]
  • They are terrible swimmers.[22]
  • Compies have a different lifespan than human, though it is not known how long they live.[23]
  • Unlike some Earth lizards, compies' tails won't grow back.[24]
